How to keep your immune system working perfectly

I as so many others realized how vital it is to have a great functioning immune system. We may take our body's immune system for granted but when it is in a weakened condition we all wish we did something to improve. As this site is about natural health I thought it is good to be reminded what we can do to improve our immune systems. Our immune system is the difference between a healthy life and feeling extremely sick. Coping with aches we don't want. So let's see and remind ourselves what we can do to make sure our immunity is ready to fight any infections. Consider this post a check list to see where we can improve if needed. So let's see where we can improve. Following these steps may just help to keep your immune system in perfect health.


Get adequate rest. 
That means at least six to eight hours every night.

Don't forget to add fruits and vegetables to your diet as it contains vital nutrients for healthy living.

Try to maintain a healthy weight.

Alcohol in moderation is fine. But please don't over it.

It is suggested if you smoke it is wise to stop.

Find healthy and alternative ways to cope with the tension and stress life throws at you. If you are very stressful your body's immunity is affected and puts you at risk of getting sick.

Stay hydrated. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water daily as it flushes the toxins out of the body. 
 
Consider foods that is rich in vitamin C.

These are just some of the many benefits of kalonji seeds. But as with everything there is a few things to know. Never take more than five kaloni seeds a day as it increases body temperature. Start with one and after a week you can up the dosage to 2 and continue with that or as time progress you can later increase if needed. And please keep track of your condition.

How to use
Now there is a few ways to use kalonji seeds. But allow me to start by saying that kalonji seeds become much more effective when combined with honey and lemon juice. But then some consider garlic combined with Kalonji seeds just as effective when combined.
For me personally it is part of my daily routine. Every morning I pour boiling hot water in a cup. Add the seeds, teaspoon honey and tablespoon lemon juice. But that is what I personally prefer.
Alternatively you can take seeds, pour very small amount (just enough to cover the seeds) lemon juice over it. Place in a warm space with direct sunlight. Leave till all the liquid is absorbed (next day) and drink it. 
Then as many will be able to confirm it can be used in cooking.
Or take kalonji seeds. Follow that up with a small amount of honey. But it is advised to do this on an empty stomach in the morning at least half an hour before coffee tea or breakfast.

Garlic

Method

Start by crushing 6 garlic cloves. Pour the juice of 3 oranges in a container. Add the crushed garlic. Now add two table spoons olive oil to the mixture. make sure everything is combined.

Very important. Leave this mixture for 12 hours before using it!!!

Cabbage for Varicose veins Try this you will be amazed

 After doing some research I came across this unique home remedy for varicose veins.
Chances are you may already have the ingredient at home. Not only is this product edible but also good for varicose veins.

Struggling with weight loss? Then please consider this!


I have done some research and discovered a few overall tips for weight loss. There's a huge variety of diets and most are successful. I will admit to that. But realize it takes commitment. I have also been known to say that weight loss isn't a temporary change but in fact a lifestyle change. So with that in mind. Lets consider the info I have collected and am sharing 


More foods to consider

Purple foods
Blackberries, raisins. plums, red grapes, beetroot, red cabbage 

Green foods
Green apples, limes, kiwifruit, cabbage, spinach, lettuce, celery, cucumber, grapes, peas, broccoli, asparagus, avocado, green beans, pears.

Other foods
Tomatoes, Red and green apples, Grapefruit, Watermelon, lentils, sweet potato,   

Green tea
Not only is green tea good for overall health, but it also boost your metabolism.

Chillies
One of the greatest secrets in weight loss. Never to be underestimated. Chillies helps by boosting metabolism, but at the same time it also helps delaying the storage of fats. 1 teaspoon daily helps to burn stored body fat. So it will help with weight loss. So now there is another reason to consider chillies.

Other helpful hints
Chillies, ginger and mustard helps to boost your metabolism.
Whenever you get the craving for something sweet just smell vanilla essence
Consider drinking smoothies with fruit and/or vegetables.
Remember that a protein diet helps you feel fuller for longer. So don't cut protein from your diet.

Sugar and fats
Then remember that the amount of fat and sugar you take in daily affects your success with weight loss. 

Exercise

Drink at least 8 glasses water. Preferably not ice cold water but instead warm water because it helps to flush fat out of the body. You can add some lemon juice as it is considered a healthy detox for your body. Which means getting rid of all the bad toxins stored in the body by flushing it out.

Highly effective home made cream for sore hands. DIY

Suffering with sore hands can be a problem as we use our hands for almost everything. So I was told about this great mixture that made a huge difference. You will keep this in stock once you discover how good it works. 


Please note
As it is essential oils please keep strictly with the amount given. Essential oils can be quite strong. As good as essential oils can be. Please remember that too much of a good thing can be harmful. This mixture is already strong. So no need to add more. But this cream is highly effective.  

Ingredients
500 ml. aqueous cream (of your choice)
40 drops rosemary oil
40 drops marjoram oil
10 drops lavender oil
10 drops tea tree oil

Method
Mix everything with the aqueous cream. Use this mixture minimum 3 times a day. In the beginning you can apply this cream every 30 minutes if you want too. 

You will find that this home made cream has a pleasant smell. So why not try this for yourself. The lady that shared this advice with me. Is someone I know and even I noticed the difference. Home remedy to get rid of Gout attacks forever safely at home.

If you are one of the millions of people that is unfortunate enough to know the pains and aches associated with gout. Then you know how extremely painful this condition can be. 
The remedy I am sharing today comes from an alternative health practitioner. Yes everyone who used this recipe found relief quite fast. Do I trust it? Yes very much. As I am sharing it on here. 



But before you wanna know what to do. Realize that gout is a type of arthritis that is caused because your body has too much acid. More specific uric acid. Apart from the fact that this home remedy helps neutralize uric acid. Please bare in mind that the real culprits needs your attention too. On the plus side this mixture has other benefits too. It is mentioned later in this article.

Some of the foods and drinks can actually help your body create more acid than is necessary. End result. You experience extreme and uncomfortable pain. So what changes should be considered?   

First the no no's
(That means less of these)
Sugar. You had to guess this one would be added. As sugar turns acidic. 
White flour products. 
Too much meat. Red meat to be specific. 
Beans. This one was shared by a doctor as beans also causes too much acid. 

Now the yes please. 
(Meaning do this more often)
Consume more fresh fruits and vegetables.
Eat more vitamin C rich foods. Such as cherries
Use hot or cold compresses when you dealing with the pain caused by Gout. 
Water. Realize that water helps your body get rid of the uric acid. 
I have seen the difference that water can make with people who suffer from gout. As much as I have seen the severe pain it can cause. So please. Drink more water. 

The remedy

The ingredients
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 Tablespoon honey
(1/2)Half teaspoon ginger
(1/4)Quarter teaspoon cayenne pepper
(1/4) Quarter teaspoon black pepper (it helps the body absorb the turmeric)
1 Teaspoon coconut oil

Method
Mix all these ingredients with a cup lukewarm water. Drink this mixture on an empty stomach. Which basically means drink this before you eat or drink anything in the morning.

Added benefits of this home remedy.
It cures Gout. Arthritis, High blood pressure, Can improve your cholesterol, Boost your body's immunity. It is even rumored to help against cancer. But I can not say whether it is a fact. Or not!

The person that I saw suffering from gout attacks used this and it worked for him. So from his perspective it was worth trying.

Making your own Kombucha tea at home. The health craze that took the world by storm

And finally as promised here is the recipe to make your own Kombucha at home. If this is the first time you are here on this site. Please check the article about what you have to know before making Kombucha if this will be the first time you make it. As it is vital to know the do's and the dont's when making Kombucha. And if you don't have scoby that is needed to make Kombucha. Please check the previous article. It tells how to make your own scoby for Kombucha at home. 


Why would it be considered good to drink Kombucha. Known as the tea that has been fermented with mother of mushroom. Because of the scoby. Because this sweet healthy drink that has lower amounts of sugar. But is also good for gut health. It is filled with Vitamin B, antioxidants and also folic acid. Kombucha tea is also full of probiotics. Among other things. 


How to make Kombucha at home.


Ingredients


  • 3 liters water, boiled. You can use filtered water.
  • 5 tea bags. It can be green tea, rooibos or black tea. The choice is yours.
  • 1 cup Sugar. Raw or white sugar. Again your preference
  • 1 Scoby. Do remember if you don't have scoby the previous article gives you the recipe to make your own home made scoby.
  • 1 cup Kombucha is needed from the previous batch.


Instructions

Combine the water and sugar in a saucepan. Place it on the stove. Let it simmer on low heat until the sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from the heat. Now add the tea bags and let it cool down for up to an hour. 
Remove the tea bags. Leave the mixture to cool till it reaches room temperature. Now make sure to use a sterilized glass container for the next step. Add the freshly made tea in the container. Add the scoby and the Kombucha tea. Place a dish towel over and make sure to place a rubber band to secure the towel in place. 

Place the freshly made Kombuca in a warm place, but make sure it isn't in direct sunlight. The room should be between 24 to 32 degrees Celsius. Leave the mixture for minimum 10 days. Do not disturb it. Just let it work it's magic. 

Remember that a new baby scoby will develop in this time. It will have a sour taste because the scoby will feed on the sugar that was added. Which is why the sugar is a vital step in making Kombucha. It will be ready when the sour taste is fully developed. Strain the Kombucha. You can use a plastic sieve. or you can use a coffee filter. But do not. I repeat do not use anything metal! 

It is important to leave the scoby and one cup of the Kombucha to start making a new batch Kombucha.  

Please note that when a scoby is forming it will start to look a bit gelatin. If it should start to form mold you should throw it away as it can be harmful. The harmful mold is known as Aspergillus.

Kombucha. The healthy drink that has been around for 2000 years. And here is why.

Yesterday I was told about Kombucha. Kombucha is a sugary sweet tea and yeast that is fermented. A specific type of yeast! And is said to be good for a variety of illnesses. And ailments. You can make your own or you can buy it. The choice is yours. 

Some of the people that use it claim that it helps to boost your immune system, helps your body to get rid of toxins, also others say it can prevent cancer, heart disease and high blood pressure. It is also ideal to use if you want to lose weight. It can even increase your energy levels. But we will continue this part later on in this article.


Scientific viewpoint
From a scientific point of view. There is no proof that it actually does any of the healthy things mentioned earlier. However no one can deny it is ideal for gut health. So if you do have any of the conditions I named earlier. You will still have to consider a healthy lifestyle change. And not just rely on Kombucha to fix any situation. 
Health benefits that is real
As as it is filled with probiotics, has loads of vitamin b contains caffeine and limited amount of sugar. It can be accepted that it does have wonderful benefits to consider. 

If you want to make Kombucha at home. Take note

But if you consider making your own Kombucha you must know hygiene is extremely important. Your bottle or bottles must be clean. Your hands should be clean. The advice from the FDA is. Make sure everything is sanitary. That means any equipment used to make Kombucha and your hands too. Also mentioned by the FDA. Only then will it be safe to make your own Kombucha. Use glass, stainless steel or plastic containers for your home made Kombucha. Personally I think glass would be best. But that is my personal opinion. 

The important part you also have to know. 
There was at least one fatality from the use of Kombucha. Misusing it can cause liver issues, nausea, lactic acidosis (caused by too much lactic acid) and even allergic reactions. So if you consider making this. Then keeping everything sanitary clean is extremely important as you can see. Drinking this mixture 3 times a day is considered a safe amount. That means no more than 240 ml 3 times a day. No more!! 

So lets sum up some of the benefits of Kombucha

  • Kombucha helps to slow down digestion of carbohydrates you consume. That by itself help to lower your blood sugar levels. Kombucha can also help improve the functions of your kidneys and liver.

  • Because it has anti cancer properties. Because it contains high amounts of ani-oxidants and tea polyphenols.

So to sum it up. Kombucha if made correctly is highly beneficial for your health. Because it is filled with probiotics among other things. This sweet and sugary tea has been around this long for a great reason. That is very clear.

Quick efficient ways to relieve headaches.

Imagine for a moment. It is the middle of the night. You have a numbing painful headache that feels like it is getting worse with every passing second. You look in your medicine cabinet. And oh no. Nothing. You feel like that headache is still getting worse. And you know you can not cope. Thinking that in the morning you can get something for that headache. Nope. Not an option. You need relief now. Have you ever experienced this? Yes I have. So with that in mind. I share effective ways to help relieve that headache. 



Acupressure points.
All these images shows you pressure points that can help to relieve your headache. Now do not be surprised that it works. Remember that your whole body is connected as one whole organ. Certain places, or as some would call it. Pressure points in your body helps to alleviate headache. What this means for you is. You have to hold any of these pressure points firmly (shown in image). But not hard that it is painful on the specific pressure points. Just firm enough to help relieve your headache. Massaging gently. It can be from one minute to five minutes. Depending on the severity of the headache.

Water.
If you are dehydrated. Your body tells you that something is wrong by causing headache. So you need to make sure that you are hydrated. So drink water. Or if you do not like water. Eat foods that is rich in water. 

Sleep.
How much time is needed for a proper night's rest? If you do not get enough sleep. This can also be a reason for suffering from headache. But that does not mean you should sleep more than 9 hours. As it is also known to cause headaches if you sleep for too long. Remember 7 to 9 hours is enough.

Cold compress
Using a cold compress can help with a headache because it helps to decrease inflammation. It also slows nerve conduction and tighten blood vessels. What you need to do. Take a bag that is waterproof. Fill it with ice. Wrap towel around it. Place it on either neck temples or head. Depending on where the pain is. Effective pain relief. This also works well for sprains and pains on the knee leg or other places.    

Coffee
Coffee lovers will love this home remedy. Because coffee can also help to relieve headaches. Why? you may wonder. Coffee tightens blood vessels too. Making it highly effective to be considered a home remedy for headache. And you never knew this would be a favorite. With or without headaches. But at the same time. Too much coffee can also cause headaches. So it is important to be balanced with your coffee intake. 

Stay active.
By staying active you can reduce headaches. At the same time you will get headache relief just by staying active. Scientific studies showed that people who made use of indoor cycling 3 times a week was more relaxed and at the same time had less headaches than their counterparts who was inactive. If you are not  a very active person. Your risk for headaches increase significantly. It can be as simple as walking more. Increase the amount of steps you take daily. It does not have to be specific forms of activity. 

Hot water bottle
If you suffer from a tension headache. This is known to cause stiff shoulders. Increasing pain from shoulders to neck to headache in its full forms.And cause extremely painful headaches.You can use a warm water bottle filled with warm water. Place it on your shoulders to neck to help relieve this type of headache.

I am the type of person that believes that sound frequencies has the ability to either heal or calm our moods. Whether it was a busy day or just a trying time. The truth is we should consider taking time to just listen to soothing sounds. Sound has the ability to alleviate your mood and the end result is you calm and happy. Maybe peaceful and tranquil too.

Sound has the ability to heal mind and body. Yes the sounds and frequencies you listen too. Can make a big difference on your overall health.


You may wonder if that is true. But consider this. When you listen to sad songs. Does it not change your mood to sad? Or when you listen to something that is cheerful. You also start feeling cheerful. Now consider when you watch a scary movie. Imagine this for a moment. The music changes.Your heart starts to beat faster. Your eyes grow wider. Fear is starting to affect you. The sound is becoming more intense. Fight or flight reaction is growing within you. It becomes very tense. Truthfully you already start to feel tense also. Think of a movie like Jaws. In my head I hear those sounds already. It will forever be associated with Jaws. So it is clear that sound has a powerful effect on us. 

Now let us think about the beneficial side of sound. Or more accurately frequencies. Think of Tibetan singing bowl sounds, tuning forks or even drums that is played. Or think of rain on the roof associated with thunder in the distance. A forest with birds chirping. Combine that with the sounds of stream close by. Or if you like the ocean add the waves crashing on the shore. What comes to mind? Healing calm and peaceful sounds and frequencies. Avocado and banana foot mask

Half of an avocado
1 banana ripe

Method
Make sure to blend the ingredients nicely. Making sure that it is a nice creamy mixture. Apply the mixture all over your feet and make sure to remember your heels too. Covering your feet properly. Leave it on for 15 minutes or if you prefer you can leave it on for 20 minutes. Wash your feet after the time passed with warm water. Just nice lukewarm water. Never hot water! You can do this daily if you prefer. The result will be well nourished skin. Skin that is soft and heels that will be very soft.

Why cut out sugar and what to expect. Help with the withdrawals and cravings.

I have been asked what helps for sugar cravings. Especially if you cut sugar completely out of your diet. So today I answer this very good and important question. As most who cut sugar out will admit. After two day or longer. It becomes very difficult. Your body craves that sugar and you find yourself either using sugar again. Or you struggle not knowing what to do. 


Daily amount
Understand that sugar by itself isn't bad. But the truth is there is a limit to the amount of sugar you can consume daily. A limit that very few agree too. The daily limit is 9 teaspoons for men (37.5g) while womens daily limit is 6 teaspoons (25g). Any amount added is too much and this is the real issue. Most consume much more than this amount. For diabetics with type 2 diabetes off course this is not good at all. So please it is not applicable.

Why is it important to be mindful of the amount of sugar you add to your daily diet?

Did you know that sugar is highly addictive? And when you cut sugar out of diet. You will have to deal with withdrawal symptoms. The higher your sugar intake. The more severe your cravings and withdrawals will be. Yes that is how serious it is.

  • Weakness or fatigue
  • Extreme cravings
  • Changes in your behavior

What you can do when craving sugar
  • Drink water. Make sure you stay hydrated
  • Keep your stress levels in check
  • Consume more high fiber foods
  • Eat high protein meats or vegetables
  • Stay away from artificial sweeteners
  • Exercise regularly
  • Eat fruit such as grapes mangoes berries and dates, 
  • Or healthy snack bars, dark chocolate or even yogurt

Interesting fact. Sugar is eight times more addictive than cocaine. So when dealing with the cravings and withdrawals. It may become overwhelming. But if you keep going. Know that it will stop. Your body will adjust and you will know you conquered something that very few can truly say they defeated.

Guidelines to lose weight loss and a healthier lifestyle. This will change your life.

So many keep asking what can be done to lose weight. So today I want to answer it simple and fast.
Truth is what you eat affects your weight. There is the simple rules of consider what you eat. Or what you drink. There is a few simple simple guidelines you can follow. Do you consider yourself a person that is mildly active or not active at all? Why do you want to lose weight? All this will be discussed


Why is it so important to be mindful of your weight?
Not only do you put your internal organs under more pressure. Caused by the fat layers. But you also can develop chronic illnesses such as diabetes. Heart health should be a top priority for all of us. And many more other reasons. So many who lost weight will tell you they discovered they have so much more energy. Why? Because if you think of it right now. If you are overweight. Does that not mean you lose energy that could be used on something different. If you feel tired all the time. There you have the reason if you are overweight. 

Portion control
Rules such as considering portion control. Smaller portions 4 to 5 times a day. This way your body gets all the needed nutrients that is needed. While at the same time you don't feel hungry and overeat.

Sugar and fat
Then there is a the golden rule. No to sugary drinks or foods. Did you see the amount of sugar used in soda cool drinks? Switch to the low or no sugar versions. I was stunned when I made that comparison. No to fatty foods. Fried foods is taboo. Not only is that unhealthy if you eat too much fat. But also it will affect your heart health. Now do not think it means you should cut all fat out. Your body does need fat. But small amounts and mostly the good fats. 

Don't skip meals
Do not eat only one time a day thinking you will lose weight. You will immediately put your body in survival mode to protect you. That is the way we are created. Though food will be less it will much easier be stored as fat. Do not skip breakfast under any circumstances. As it is the most important meal of the day. You just woke up and your body needs fuel to be prepared for the day ahead.

Starchy foods
Though it is good for you to eat starchy foods. You have to limit the amount of starch you add to your diet. It is one of the big culprits to weight gain. Only one portion is advisable.

Fruits and vegetables
Remember eating fruits and vegetables. It is vital for health and if you read my post about the Daniel diet. You will see the guidelines is simple. Unlimited amount of fruits and vegetables. With a few extra guidelines. Many who tried this lifestyle decided to stay with it. Sugar within its limits is good for you. But the truth is. Most products already have sugar in them. So from your own personal view limit your intake of the amount you use. I am not saying say no to a chocolate the next time you want to buy one. Limit the amount you eat. Instead of eating a whole slab of chocolate. Either share or save some for later.

Exercise
Exercise is vital for weight loss. Whether it is through walking 20 minutes daily or other forms of exercise. But not only is it important for weight loss. It is good for overall health. Whether you realize it or not. Your body needs to be active. Your heart needs it. Your blood circulation and so many other reasons too. So don't think of exercising for only weight loss. Consider it a lifestyle change. You will be much healthier and discover you have even higher amounts of energy.

Water
I often mention it. Your body needs water. But see here is the real twist. Instead of cold water switch to warm water. Warm water helps to remove unwanted fat from the body where cold water will easily store it. But remember that drinking warm water on an empty stomach and before going to sleep makes a difference. Make this part of your daily routine. Do this every day and you will be pleasantly surprised. Add some lemon juice to the water after waking up and you just made yourself a detox drink. Or if you like me that don't like the taste add one teaspoon honey and half teaspoon cinnamon powder with small amount of lemon juice. 

Last words
But most. If you want to lose weight. It is your mission. Do this for yourself. Not for anyone else. It is because you want to be healthy and feel good. Don't do it because anyone tells you that you should. It will succeed once you make it your own personal goal. Remember there will be days where you fail. But tomorrow. It is the chance to start all over again. Be honest with yourself.  Don't do this because others make you feel like less. Do it because you want to live life fully. Do it for your own health. But remember. This should become a lifestyle change. Not just to lose weight. Otherwise it will start all over again once you feel you reached your goal weight.

Remove warts fast with these home remedies.

Warts. It can be considered unsightly. Yet many are affected by it. Today I want to share a few effective remedies for treating warts. But first lets discuss what causes warts? It is a type of skin infection. It can be caused from a scratch or a cut. The virus known as HPV gets into that scratch or cut. Infiltrating the skin. The virus is known to be part of the HPV family. But also better known as papillomavirus. When this virus gets under the outer layer of the skin. It causes the skin cells to grow extremely fast on the outer layer of your skin. The result is a wart.


Wart magic
Next there is something you can get from the pharmacy that is known as wart magic. Highly effective. Or similar products. Depending on where you are from. Feel free to ask your pharmacist. But that is not a home remedy so lets see what home remedies we can use. 

Potato
Rubbing potato on the affected skin will help. Do this often and you will see it disappears. 

Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is another great home remedy that will get rid of the wart. As it affects the acidity of the wart. Just dip a cotton wool in the apple cider vinegar. Leave it on for a while. Do this daily. And you will see it falls off. 

Milk from the fig tree
The white juice from fig tree. Here is another one that works wonders for warts. All you have to do is squeeze the milk from a lead that you just picked on the wart. Also do this daily. But try to avoid the skin that is healthy. But make sure to cover the wart.

Nail polish
Here is one that may surprise you. Cover the wart with nail polish. Yes nail polish works wonders too. But why does it work? By covering the wart with nail polish. You make sure the wart does not get air or oxygen. Forcing it to fall off.  

Vitamin D

Cumin 

Eating banana that is finely mashed with cumin seeds before bedtime is very effective to help treat insomnia. Or drink cumin tea if you prefer it. Boil water with only one teaspoon cumin seeds. Drink this before going to bed. to help you sleep. In fact cumin has proven to be highly beneficial to help treat fatigue. But at the same time it has sleep inducing abilities

Nutmeg

Because nutmeg is an excellent sedative you can consider adding only a few sprinkles of nutmeg into your already warm milk. Or if you prefer add it to warm water or juice. The preference is yours.

Saffron

All you need is two strands of the saffron. Add it to your warm milk just before you go to bed. Because saffron has sleep inducing abilities it is considered a safe natural cure for insomnia. It also helps to calm you, because it has the ability to calm nerves and senses. 

Chamomile 

Now I know many may already know about the wonderful benefits of chamomile tea. But as it is an effective sedative. It had to mentioned for insomnia. It has the ability to calm your nerves. Explains why so many believe in chamomile tea. All you have to do is drink the tea. Add a pinch of cinnamon if you prefer.

Milk

You had to think I would mention milk. As many of the varieties of home remedies for insomnia mentioned warm milk. It is suggested drinking warm milk with a pinch of cinnamon powder will improve your sleep. It increases the potency of a proper night's rest. So why not think of that the next time you struggle to sleep.

2 bottles eucalyptus oil
2 bottles camphor oil
100 ml olive oil

Method

Mix everything together in a dark colored bottle. And leave the mixture for 3 to 4 days.

It also improves circulation. It can remove varicose veins in ten days.
