If you are suffering from diabetes take note it can affect your blood glucose levels so it is considered wise to start with only one seed if needed. The same apply to people that suffer from high blood pressure as it is known that Kalonji seeds may affect blood pressure levels. So please don't start with five seeds. Start with one and after a week you can up the dosage to 2 and continue with that or as time progress you can later increase if needed. And please keep track of your condition.

How to use
Now there is a few ways to use kalonji seeds. But allow me to start by saying that kalonji seeds become much more effective when combined with honey and lemon juice. But then some consider garlic combined with Kalonji seeds just as effective when combined.
For me personally it is part of my daily routine. Every morning I pour boiling hot water in a cup. Add the seeds, teaspoon honey and tablespoon lemon juice. But that is what I personally prefer.
Alternatively you can take seeds, pour very small amount (just enough to cover the seeds) lemon juice over it. Place in a warm space with direct sunlight. Leave till all the liquid is absorbed (next day) and drink it. 
Then as many will be able to confirm it can be used in cooking.
Or take kalonji seeds. Follow that up with a small amount of honey. But it is advised to do this on an empty stomach in the morning at least half an hour before coffee tea or breakfast.

Struggling with weight loss? Then please consider this!


I have done some research and discovered a few overall tips for weight loss. There's a huge variety of diets and most are successful. I will admit to that. But realize it takes commitment. I have also been known to say that weight loss isn't a temporary change but in fact a lifestyle change. So with that in mind. Lets consider the info I have collected and am sharing 


More foods to consider

Purple foods
Blackberries, raisins. plums, red grapes, beetroot, red cabbage 

Green foods
Green apples, limes, kiwifruit, cabbage, spinach, lettuce, celery, cucumber, grapes, peas, broccoli, asparagus, avocado, green beans, pears.

Other foods
Tomatoes, Red and green apples, Grapefruit, Watermelon, lentils, sweet potato,   

Green tea
Not only is green tea good for overall health, but it also boost your metabolism.

Chillies
One of the greatest secrets in weight loss. Never to be underestimated. Chillies helps by boosting metabolism, but at the same time it also helps delaying the storage of fats. 1 teaspoon daily helps to burn stored body fat. So it will help with weight loss. So now there is another reason to consider chillies.

Other helpful hints
Chillies, ginger and mustard helps to boost your metabolism.
Whenever you get the craving for something sweet just smell vanilla essence
Consider drinking smoothies with fruit and/or vegetables.
Remember that a protein diet helps you feel fuller for longer. So don't cut protein from your diet.

Sugar and fats
Then remember that the amount of fat and sugar you take in daily affects your success with weight loss. 

Exercise
Stay active. That also boost your metabolic rate. Not to mention the health benefits such as your blood circulation healthy heart and dare I say it can be considered a way to help reduce stress.

Water 
Drink at least 8 glasses water. Preferably not ice cold water but instead warm water because it helps to flush fat out of the body. You can add some lemon juice as it is considered a healthy detox for your body. Which means getting rid of all the bad toxins stored in the body by flushing it out.

Kombucha. The healthy drink that has been around for 2000 years. And here is why.

Yesterday I was told about Kombucha. Kombucha is a sugary sweet tea and yeast that is fermented. A specific type of yeast! And is said to be good for a variety of illnesses. And ailments. You can make your own or you can buy it. The choice is yours. 

Some of the people that use it claim that it helps to boost your immune system, helps your body to get rid of toxins, also others say it can prevent cancer, heart disease and high blood pressure. It is also ideal to use if you want to lose weight. It can even increase your energy levels. But we will continue this part later on in this article.


Scientific viewpoint
From a scientific point of view. There is no proof that it actually does any of the healthy things mentioned earlier. However no one can deny it is ideal for gut health. So if you do have any of the conditions I named earlier. You will still have to consider a healthy lifestyle change. And not just rely on Kombucha to fix any situation. 
Health benefits that is real
As as it is filled with probiotics, has loads of vitamin b contains caffeine and limited amount of sugar. It can be accepted that it does have wonderful benefits to consider. 

If you want to make Kombucha at home. Take note

But if you consider making your own Kombucha you must know hygiene is extremely important. Your bottle or bottles must be clean. Your hands should be clean. The advice from the FDA is. Make sure everything is sanitary. That means any equipment used to make Kombucha and your hands too. Also mentioned by the FDA. Only then will it be safe to make your own Kombucha. Use glass, stainless steel or plastic containers for your home made Kombucha. Personally I think glass would be best. But that is my personal opinion. 

The important part you also have to know. 
There was at least one fatality from the use of Kombucha. Misusing it can cause liver issues, nausea, lactic acidosis (caused by too much lactic acid) and even allergic reactions. So if you consider making this. Then keeping everything sanitary clean is extremely important as you can see. Drinking this mixture 3 times a day is considered a safe amount. That means no more than 240 ml 3 times a day. No more!!

  • Because it has anti cancer properties. Because it contains high amounts of ani-oxidants and tea polyphenols.

So to sum it up. Kombucha if made correctly is highly beneficial for your health. Because it is filled with probiotics among other things. This sweet and sugary tea has been around this long for a great reason. That is very clear.

Why cut out sugar and what to expect. Help with the withdrawals and cravings.

I have been asked what helps for sugar cravings. Especially if you cut sugar completely out of your diet. So today I answer this very good and important question. As most who cut sugar out will admit. After two day or longer. It becomes very difficult. Your body craves that sugar and you find yourself either using sugar again. Or you struggle not knowing what to do. 


Daily amount
Understand that sugar by itself isn't bad. But the truth is there is a limit to the amount of sugar you can consume daily. A limit that very few agree too. The daily limit is 9 teaspoons for men (37.5g) while womens daily limit is 6 teaspoons (25g). Any amount added is too much and this is the real issue. Most consume much more than this amount. For diabetics with type 2 diabetes off course this is not good at all. So please it is not applicable.

Why is it important to be mindful of the amount of sugar you add to your daily diet?

As you will see it essential to be mindful of your sugar intake


Did you know that sugar is highly addictive? And when you cut sugar out of diet. You will have to deal with withdrawal symptoms. The higher your sugar intake. The more severe your cravings and withdrawals will be. Yes that is how serious it is.

Some of the symptoms

  • Muscular aches and pains
  • Weakness or fatigue
  • Extreme cravings
  • Changes in your behavior
  • Depression
  • Headaches
  • Feeling very lightheaded
  • Symptoms as if you have flu
  • Struggling to have a good night's rest
  • Confusion

So as you can see it is not a fun and easy experience. It may be very challenging. The withdrawal symptoms can go from a few days to two weeks. Even when you deal with withdrawal symptoms understand that the longer you stay away from sugar. The less your cravings for sugar will become. So even when you struggle know it will become easier and then finally. Your body will accept the changes in your diet. So how do you cope with the withdrawal symptoms?

What you can do when craving sugar
  • Drink water. Make sure you stay hydrated
  • Keep your stress levels in check
  • Consume more high fiber foods
  • Eat high protein meats or vegetables
  • Stay away from artificial sweeteners
  • Exercise regularly
  • Eat fruit such as grapes mangoes berries and dates, 
  • Or healthy snack bars, dark chocolate or even yogurt

Interesting fact. Sugar is eight times more addictive than cocaine. So when dealing with the cravings and withdrawals. It may become overwhelming. But if you keep going. Know that it will stop. Your body will adjust and you will know you conquered something that very few can truly say they defeated.

Guidelines to lose weight loss and a healthier lifestyle. This will change your life.

So many keep asking what can be done to lose weight. So today I want to answer it simple and fast.
Truth is what you eat affects your weight. There is the simple rules of consider what you eat. Or what you drink. There is a few simple simple guidelines you can follow. Do you consider yourself a person that is mildly active or not active at all? Why do you want to lose weight? All this will be discussed


Why is it so important to be mindful of your weight?
Not only do you put your internal organs under more pressure. Caused by the fat layers. But you also can develop chronic illnesses such as diabetes. Heart health should be a top priority for all of us. And many more other reasons. So many who lost weight will tell you they discovered they have so much more energy. Why? Because if you think of it right now. If you are overweight. Does that not mean you lose energy that could be used on something different. If you feel tired all the time. There you have the reason if you are overweight. 

Portion control
Rules such as considering portion control. Smaller portions 4 to 5 times a day. This way your body gets all the needed nutrients that is needed. While at the same time you don't feel hungry and overeat.

Sugar and fat
Then there is a the golden rule. No to sugary drinks or foods. Did you see the amount of sugar used in soda cool drinks? Switch to the low or no sugar versions. I was stunned when I made that comparison. No to fatty foods. Fried foods is taboo. Not only is that unhealthy if you eat too much fat. But also it will affect your heart health. Now do not think it means you should cut all fat out. Your body does need fat. But small amounts and mostly the good fats. 

Don't skip meals
Do not eat only one time a day thinking you will lose weight. You will immediately put your body in survival mode to protect you. That is the way we are created. Though food will be less it will much easier be stored as fat. Do not skip breakfast under any circumstances. As it is the most important meal of the day. You just woke up and your body needs fuel to be prepared for the day ahead.

Starchy foods
Though it is good for you to eat starchy foods. You have to limit the amount of starch you add to your diet. It is one of the big culprits to weight gain. Only one portion is advisable.

Fruits and vegetables
Remember eating fruits and vegetables. It is vital for health and if you read my post about the Daniel diet. You will see the guidelines is simple. Unlimited amount of fruits and vegetables. With a few extra guidelines. Many who tried this lifestyle decided to stay with it. Sugar within its limits is good for you. But the truth is. Most products already have sugar in them. So from your own personal view limit your intake of the amount you use. I am not saying say no to a chocolate the next time you want to buy one. Limit the amount you eat. Instead of eating a whole slab of chocolate. Either share or save some for later.

Exercise
Exercise is vital for weight loss. Whether it is through walking 20 minutes daily or other forms of exercise. But not only is it important for weight loss. It is good for overall health. Whether you realize it or not. Your body needs to be active. Your heart needs it. Your blood circulation and so many other reasons too. So don't think of exercising for only weight loss. Consider it a lifestyle change. You will be much healthier and discover you have even higher amounts of energy.

Water
I often mention it. Your body needs water. But see here is the real twist. Instead of cold water switch to warm water. Warm water helps to remove unwanted fat from the body where cold water will easily store it. But remember that drinking warm water on an empty stomach and before going to sleep makes a difference. Make this part of your daily routine. Do this every day and you will be pleasantly surprised. Add some lemon juice to the water after waking up and you just made yourself a detox drink. Or if you like me that don't like the taste add one teaspoon honey and half teaspoon cinnamon powder with small amount of lemon juice. 

Last words
But most. If you want to lose weight. It is your mission. Do this for yourself. Not for anyone else. It is because you want to be healthy and feel good. Don't do it because anyone tells you that you should. It will succeed once you make it your own personal goal. Remember there will be days where you fail. But tomorrow. It is the chance to start all over again. Be honest with yourself.  Don't do this because others make you feel like less. Do it because you want to live life fully. Do it for your own health. But remember. This should become a lifestyle change. Not just to lose weight. Otherwise it will start all over again once you feel you reached your goal weight.

Portion control. What you should know.

As you look at your plate in front of you. Do you know how to divide your portions? How much would be considered a portion? And what exactly should you consume when you eat. Do you know the answers to this? If not. Many actually don't know what is the correct portion size. Nor do they know how to divide their plate into portion groups.  So we end up eating too much. 

The way your plate should be divided. 

As seen. Your plate should be divided into quarters. Excluding the good fats. Yes your body needs fat to function. So don't remove good fats from your plate. Quarter for starchy foods. Quarter for your preferred proteins. Whether you are vegetarian, Vegan or you eat meats. Still the same principle applies. The remaining half is meant for vegetables.

Now that you know how to divide your plate. Do you know what is considered portion size? No idea? Then allow me to help with an illustration. This is just a visual aid to know what is considered a portion. A better description for dividing your portions.


But did you know what is also considered starchy foods? You probably already know that rice, potatoes, pasta and grain falls under starchy foods. But did you know this? I only recently found out. So don't be surprised if you didn't know. Butternuts, pumpkin sweet potatoes. Yes it all falls under starchy foods too. So imagine how amazed I was to discover that. And here I thought it counts and vegetables. So when you serve dinner. Remember that it also falls under starchy foods. 

Live and learn I guess. By following this rule you will not only lose weight but you will also take care of your heath.. Giving your body vital nutrition it needs.

Home made facial mask for instant radiance and beautiful skin

Most women will agree that glowing skin is associated with flawless beauty. Perfect health and absolute radiance. So how many products do you know of that offers just that. But today I share a few home made face masks that can give you that radiant skin. 


Almond facial mask.
Start by taking a bowl. Add 8 to 10 almonds that is finely crushed.  Now add two tablespoons milk. Leave it for just a few minutes so that the milk can absorb the goodness of the almonds. Apply it on your freshly cleansed face. Softly pat it dry so it doesn't drip. Gently rinse your face after a few minutes. But use only cold water. Incidentally this is also effective for dark circles.

Fuller's earth.
Fuller's earth is another great product that can be used for your face. Start by taking three to four tablespoons fullers earth. Place it in a bowl. Now take 10 mint leaves and make sure it is finely crushed. Add all the ingredients in the bowl. Make sure everything is nicely mixed. Leave overnight in refrigerator. Next morning remove it from the fridge and allow it to reach room temperature. Now apply this on your freshly cleansed face. Allow it to dry. Clean your face with a cotton ball that is dipped in water. You can use rosewater to really complete the facial treatment. Afterwards wash your face with cool water. Never use hot water as it is harmful for your skin.

Cabbage facial mask.
Yes you read correctly. You may feel it is an absolute weird mask to consider. But at least try it before you reconsider. This mask is effective in the fight against wrinkles and gives you that radiant skin you want. All you have to do is take a cup of sliced cabbage. Extract the juice of the cabbage. Whatever method you have available or prefer. The secret is the juice. Leave it on for 20 minutes. Now wash your face gently with cool water. Gently dry your skin and    moisturise your skin with your prefered product. 

Water

It had to be mentioned. A person that drinks 8 glasses of water has a naturally glowing refreshed skin. It helps your body get rid of toxins. So try it and see for yourself. An added bonus you will find that if you drink 8 glasses of water you will lose unwanted weight also.

So there may be many effective ways to lose weight. No doubt that what we eat and our activity level makes a big difference. Today as I was at the pharmacy I heard the pharmacist tell a young lady what products work for weight loss. She also mentioned the much needed changes that needs to be implemented. Yes a healthy lifestyle will definitely make a big difference. But I also want to discuss a product that works for weight loss. Without any negative side effects. 


Maybe you are one of the many who made the new Year's resolution to change your lifestyle. Maybe losing weight is one of the mentioned commitments you made. If you admit it you will admit that a balanced healthy lifestyle can help you maintain a lifestyle that may be free of the many illnesses that is caused by overweight or obesity.

To make weight loss effective your metabolic rate needs to burn more calories than what you consume. So it is good to remember that smaller portions more often will be effective. Detox drink that works for belly fat and weight loss

Want to lose unwanted weight. But also that dreaded belly fat? How many of us would love to just easily get rid of that unwanted weight or belly fat. Just to wish it gone. But it isnt that easy. No matter how long we stare at it. So the options are obvious. Take action or accept the changes you so wish to change. I chose taking action. And because of that. I am sharing the successful weight loss drink recipe with you. Try it and you will be amazed at the results. 
It is safe easy and it really works. Yes this actually works and an added bonus. It is a great detox drink. You will also get a flat tummy just by drinking this.  It becomes a delicious drink you can enjoy.


Ingredients.
Water about 500 ml for each container or bottle
Lemon slices 3 to 4 slices
Cucumber slices 4 to 5 slices
Ginger slices 4 to 5 slices
Mint leaves. just a few. about ten
Apple cider vinegar with mother enzyme (raw) 2 teaspoons
Personally I like to add a teaspoon lemon juice also. But that is personal preference

Method
Put all ingredients with water in the bottle or pitcher. 
Leave for at least 6 six hours
Drink this every morning on an empty stomach. 
And at night just before going to bed 

I prefer 1 liter bottles. I also prefer this as my detox drink during the day. But I have to admit I found myself craving sugar or anything sweet for the first few days. And because of that I added half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder.

It is all about personal preference. The amount is a safe guideline. 
It is a natural infused drink that tastes delicious and has wonderful benefits. So consider this drink the next time you decide to lose weight. If you are like many who just don't feel like exercising. But the mirror tells you it is time. If you know you can not ignore that cry for help from your body anymore. If you discover your favorite pair of jeans just don't fit anymore. Then this article is for you. 

Eating correctly is very important. 
No one can tell you eat anything you like and still see results. For the obvious answer you are working against your goal of achieving weight loss.

I combine two or three as one full exercise routine. Thus working the whole body. Search for Tiffany Rothe workouts on YouTube. See for yourself. Experience the change if you choose that.


I will be the first one to tell you it is very important to be happy with yourself. So I will not be the one to tell people exercise exercise exercise. Or even health when they want to have a sweet treat. Honestly I also believe that we should enjoy the small pleasures in life. Just remember to enjoy in small amounts. Consider fat loss instead of weight loss and see effective results

If you are one of the millions that makes a commitment to lose weight as a new year's resolution. You probably did lots of research. What adds to weight gain and what helps you lose weight. Some way are debatable and some are just plain a risk for your health. As many may have realized. So today I am telling you the way to lose weight and gain muscle. So as the image says we will discuss fat loss as an effective way to be healthy.


1. Leave your scale 

First thing to know is that your scale doesn't recognise the difference between fat and muscle. If you start exercising you will find you gain weight. Yes it may be distressing to many. But at the same time you will find you lose inches. Now that is the idea of weight loss isnt it?

2. Consider the amount of calories you take in

Our bodies are created wonderful. But if you don't know what you doing you can actually kick in starvation mode if you cut calories completely. It is a survival mechanism that we are created with. So losing inches will become more difficult. The secret is to consider smaller amounts of calories. Meaning smaller portions and you will find your body will burn those unwanted fats at a increased rate.

3. Smaller portions matter

As mentioned before considering smaller portions (6) instead of 2 or 3 big meals is another way to lose weight. This way your body will be able to give the much needed nutrients where it is needed while at the same time you will lose those inches. 

4. Eat more healthy fats

I can hear some thinking but the idea is to lose fat why should we now eat fats. Doesnt that mean we will gain more weight? No when you consider good fats actually helps you to lose weight. No it doesnt mean I just told you to go out and have junk foods. As said consider healthy fats. Such as olive oil, egg yolks and especially fats that is rich in omega 3 fatty acids. Better explained as polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats.

5. Protein intake matters

If you increase your protein intake you will help your body to increase its metabolic rate. So you maintain muscle while losing fat. Actually by increasing your protein intake you will discover your body will burn more calories. 

6. Remember to cut down on carbohydrates

The one thing everyone will agree on is that limiting carbohydrates matter when you want to lose weight and gain muscle. The best type of carbohydrates should be from vegetables and oatmeal. While it is vital to limit sugar and starches. It is advised that you should eat carbohydrates in the morning and close to the time you will be exercising.

7. High intensity exercise

 You had to know this one would be added as a successful way to lose fat and gain muscle. It is very important to remember warm up exercises. If you know that you aren't really the exercising type and you not in the best shape for high intensity exercise then consider a low intensity exercise or cardio exercises. You can consult your doctor or physician before doing this.

8. Weight training
If you consider resistance training you will discover it helps lose body fat in a variety of ways. It is also a safe way to ensure that you lose fats instead of muscle. If it happened it would mean your metabolic rate would slow down and your efforts will become much more difficult to gain muscle while losing fat.

These are just a few ways that will help you lose fat while at the same time gain muscle. It will take commitment and effort from you. Some say that they find they are energized. Unnecessary snacking stops as three liters of water doesn't make you feel hungry. Others will say they find that they are hungrier than usual. Some will swear by it that it helps you lose weight

Water is very important for the body. It keeps us hydrated. Is a natural detox as it gets rid of the toxins. But as with many things too much water can be dangerous too. I confess use an app that reminds me to drink water. But I don't rely on it telling me. I stay with my goal and drink water. 

 Weight loss
For weight loss many will tell you drink warm water with the juice of one lemon. Others add two garlic pieces to the warm lemon water. It improves your metabolic rate and get your body burning fats faster. 

Now I started drinking three liters of water a day. I have my one liter bottle with me where ever I go. It is summer and hot. Strange how easy drinking three liters of water is then. Have I seen differences? I can say that it does help with weight loss. If you drink water your skin looks well hydrated. Many skin problems clear up when drinking water. Your skin becomes clear. But I never had any skin problems. So that is the opinion of a dear friend.

Update
It has been about a month since I started. As I started drinking water I started noticing that my skin has improved. That starts within one week. Not that I ever had skin problems but it looks better still. Improved younger clear radiant. These are a few I can describe what happened. I can say you will lose weight if you drink the needed amount of water. Not that it was a reason that I started drinking water. I started because I want to live well and healthy. Now if I don't drink water I get thirsty for water, where in the beginning I struggled to drink 3 liters. Now it seems my body wants the water.

Why it is important to exercise and to start if you dont do it already.

I want to discuss something that is serious. You may have heard it so many times. Never thought seriously about it. After all if we hear something a lot we tend to forget why it is necessary.  Why do we need to exercise? Did you ever wonder why it is said so very often?


Allow me to give one example. Now many who go to the beach say once maybe twice a year may agree to this. Just walking on the sand everyday makes a difference than normal walking down the street. It is a simple example yet it is true. Your legs and thighs gets a workout even though you may think you are fit and well. So end result is more aches till you get used to it. That is how our bodies work. Exercise is needed to keep every part of our body fit and well. If we don't use our bodies correctly we lose that flexible fit body we strive for.

As our lives changed we became people who may not live as active as we should. How many hours do you move around staying active?  Did you know that your heart and your lungs doesnt work as it should. Your joints become stiff. You can get injured easier than someone that is fit and exercises regularly. It is a major health risk. 

Reasons to consider exercise
If you are worried about appearance, well exercise has great benefits to improve appearance. It delays the aging process. If you exercise you will find that you have more stamina. You wont get tired as the person who just started exercising. You will find that your body will become more toned and defined. You will feel more energetic but will look much better too. Well obviously you will find that you are more flexible as you work your muscles. Bending stretching and twisting while exercising means your body will become more relaxed. Then there is weight loss. Yes exercise is linked to weight loss as exercising burns calories faster. More calories is burned while exercising better weight loss will be. But that also means limiting calorie intake to be efficient. 

It may not be easy to start or to stay committed to exercising, but once you start you will find reasons why it is good to continue. Stress levels will improve, Your moods will be much better. Better sleep at night. You will feel and look younger. More energy than you used to have. Isnt that improving your lifestyle too? 

Now comes the question how often is considered adequate exercise? The most important thing to remember is being consistent. Too much exercise can put strain on your muscles while too little exercise can cause muscle turning losing it's toned appearance again. Yes it means loss of fit and lean muscles. Which is why you start exercising it is important to stay committed to it.  

There is exercises like cardio. Three times a week is safe and effective. For more experienced people there is aerobics. Exercises like jogging walking or even bicycling. It should not go for longer than an hour. 
When you are thinking of weight lifting you have to remember that your muscles will need enough time to recover from strenuous exercise. Three times a week is adequate.
Stretching is so important when exercising yet many forget about it. It helps with flexibility. This can be done three to four times a week. Warming up and cooling down should be part of any exercise routine. it is good to remember that 5 to 10 stretches is required to help your muscles. Hold every stretch at least for 10 seconds minimum.

So with that in mind. There is so many benefits to exercising but we will only find the answer ourselves when we start to exercise. So I hope this article makes you reconsider how healthy your lifestyle is.

I recently started drinking grape fruit juice. It is 100% pure juice as I am lucky that I have a tree that is at this moment fully stocked. So if you want to know about the benefits of grapefruit. Allow me to answer this question for you. It does have numerous benefits that shouldn't be ignored.



According to studies done it is very healthy. It can decrease your chances of getting diabetes heart diseases and obesity. It can even improve your complexion. Your energy levels will increase and if you want to lose weight this is a healthy alternative  to help with weight loss.

Despite all the hype about it being the wonderful addition in weight loss. It isnt as much about the fact that you will lose weight. It is just the boost needed though. Weight loss should go with skin firming. If you lose weight too fast then you have loose skin and that is not appealing. So one to two pounds a week is a good way of losing weight. Remember your skin lives and is the biggest organ. Give it time to adapt to weight loss too.

When losing weight it will change other areas of your life too. You will experience having more energy, self confidence and your moods will improve
